He bought the domain, set up the email [e-mail] and reset the debt collectors main domain by requesting a transfer to another domain provider, it then sent an email to the domain record holder and he took over their domain.

Never use the same domain or another domain for registrant emails and buy privacy. use a gmail or your isp provided email.
