I hard disagree with you, though I think there is something important about acknowledging what you'll ever be able to see with the naked eye. DSOs are going to be fuzzy white spots, no matter how much aperture you have. You will never get the colorful panoplies of astrophotos. That said, I think you're underselling the experience of seeing these objects with your eyes in real time, and overselling the accessibility (in price and in difficulty) of setting up astrophotography. |
