Then why did Murdoch effectively choose to only keep their news channels (inc. Fox News), but sell the rest of 21st Century Fox (Film & TV) to Disney?

Lol, Should be pretty easy to explain the obvious contradiction:

If a weakening News market outlook was the cause of the sale, why did he choose to sell everything but Fox's News businesses?

Sell the money makers. Keep the propaganda.
