A few centuries back the average person couldn't read at all, so I think there's hope that it can be taught, not just explained. On the other hand, the separate disciplines are more and more specialized and complex, so then I agree 100% that communication (translation) is key. Lastly, "mindless partisanship" may be the cause, but is also an effect of other longer/subtler trends in media-tech, culture, education, etc. |
