I use FastMail for actual email but let my G Suite expire for a regular Google Account for the Docs, Sheets things because I couldn’t get over the lack of/weird support that pops up for a G Suite account on some Google properties.

I just barely use my Google Account to ensure I don’t get banned.

Also not sure what you mean by actual privacy.

Similar situation here with FastMail for emails with people, while keeping my G-Suite account (free; grandfathered from the Google Apps days) around for Google-services whenever I need to hop on to a Hangouts and such.

I would assume that the privacy remark is related to the Australian data-encryption bill. FastMail has a blog post in late-2018 addressing it:
