This is accurate: Slack is exclusively using Hack/HHVM for its application servers. HHVM has an embedded web server (the folly project's Proxygen), and can directly terminate HTTP/HTTPS itself. Facebook uses it in this way. If you want to bring your own webserver, though, FastCGI is the most practical way to do so with HHVM. |
