Lots of people have collections of audio files that they want to upload to the cloud so that they they can stream them using web and mobile apps. This was the case for many people using Google Play Music before it was removed last fall (including myself). I have about 2,000 mp3 files that I've collected over the years that I want to sync to my desktop and phone for playback. Does this help answer your question?

Thanks. The part I don't understand is this, why upload your private collection to a stranger?

Something as fairly straightforward as music sync and streaming can be done with common open source software.

And streaming demands an internet connection. Carrying 2000 mp3s on any device is not burdensome.

What are the unique conveniences on offer here? I ask that in completely honest ignorance.
