This really is a classic tragedy of the commons issue that requires government intervention of some form. We have to put a price on fossil fuel externalities and push alternatives. Markets are short term optimization engines and can’t price in what they can’t “see.” Market fundamentalism is the doppelgänger of dogmatic Marxism and is no better. |
