People who anthropomorphize the Earth and make strong ethical decisions about it are interesting characters. The more I study natural sciences the less I see Earth as metaphor for anything else. I guess that mindset helped create a lot his art (which is high quality) but I can't say I empathize or agree with any of his logic.

The anthropomorphization seems tangential (though perhaps also metaphorical) to his concern for the biosphere, and also of creative freedom, both of which are imperilled by the excesses and pressures of the prevailing economic order. Though I would counter his claim that art is impotent to cause positive change in these regards, as the rhetorical effectiveness of art can convince future citizens/voters to seek better government policies to mitigate environmental degradation and enable creative freedom.

Worth also noting that, unless you're convinced of moral realism, logic won't lead you to an ethical framework alone. What people value is their opinion, though a consensus of opinions forms the social compact
