Instead of running Chrome and Chromium, try Chrome and Chrome Beta (or Dev/Nightly)? You can run the same profile in both and have two instances open.

Thanks for the tip, worked like a charm. I was worried that the icons would be the same, but they are not, so it is same user experience basically.
