Ask HN: How do you use Google nowadays to avoid blogspam?
1 points by int_x 1978 days ago
Every time I search for something I almost exclusively get blogposts as results. Happens on DDG as well

I miss when search engines were actually good. Can't find anything worth something now unless I specify domain.

Google's getting better at removing spam from SERPS but definitely tougher at removing blog spam. Mostly because blogs are getting better at showing the same information from the competition in yet a slightly different way.

I append Reddit or use various operators (allintitle). The title of each result also helps me see and filter out over-optimized pages...

In my experience, appending "site:reddit.com" to the search terms almost invariably gets me better results.
