A system I built in Java, in 1998, was replaced in favour of an attempted rewrite in Oberon. My Swiss colleagues had convinced themselves that Java had no future and ETHZ-alumni could do no wrong, ever. I believe the project failed and people lost their jobs because of this decision. |
