If you check out that post and the ones it links to, you'll find thorough explanations. If you read some of those and still have a question that hasn't been answered there, I'd like to know what it is. Just please make sure that you've familiarized yourself with the material and understand the constraints we're subject to. If it's something simple like "just ban politics" or "just allow everything", I've already answered many times why that won't work.

The bottom line is that a certain amount of political discussion is inevitable here, and users (all of us, on all sides) need to learn the skills of doing that while remaining within the site rules: https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html. That's definitely doable, as many HN commenters demonstrate every day.
