They're a newish company but not brand new. In my visit to china in 2019 I occasionally saw their SUV's in major cities and even visited a dealership. They've had several models in production prior to this car that have been well received and to me were quite impressive.

Nio makes a supercar, the EP9 which while impractical because it requires a team of technicians to operate and has a rather large price tag (2.5M GBP), it seems to be quite an impressive vehicle (see The Grand Tour's episode on it [0]).

I wonder how much of that engineering has translated into the ET7.
