The interesting thing is the person sponsoring the bill is from FL, where I don't think it matters to them which time to keep as much. For more Northern latitudes, both have issues for particular times of the year (like the sun coming up at 4:00 AM in the summer in most of NY State if we stuck to Standard time). But I also think this person is choosing DST over ST because, in 2019, Florida passed a law to make DST the normal time.
