I've been led by people much younger than me many times. The thing that helps the most is just transparency. If I know the reasons for decisions, I won't always like it, but I'll back off. Also, ask for what you really want instead of what you think will accomplish that. If the budget was cut by X dollars, work with your team on the best way to deal with that instead of choosing how to deal it with on your own.
