Reminds me of the (supposed?) etymology of “barbarian”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbarian > The Greeks used the term barbarian for all non-Greek-speaking peoples, including the Egyptians, Persians, Medes and Phoenicians, emphasizing their otherness.
