Part of the reason is that it wasn't supposed to be a "beat the game" (linear) game in the first place. It was marketed as primarily "open world" with a largely optional main quest line. The problem is, if you play it that way (ignoring the main quests) it's pretty boring and repetitive real quick. Skyrim, GTA V, and Breath of the Wild set the bar for open world games and CP2077 was marketed as pushing the bar. It did not. |
