I think China is a threat even to Hong Kong and Taiwan where Han is the ethnic majority. Ethnicity is not the issue, ideology is.

In the ideology of Communist China the two are interlinked. The Chinese claim to Taiwan seems to me not to be a claim to the land directly, but a claim to the people and hence the land.
