I'd like to see an ms graph api version of this. A proper rest json api for mail, contacts and calendar is long overdue.

JMAP never took off. Maybe, if projects would copy the odata based graph api that ms documented we could collectively move there...

Have a look at https://kloudless.com/ - they have unified apis for mail /calendar / drive and a bunch more adapters.
