That's a fascinating piece, although IMO Wolfram could really do with an editor. While I realise that the article contains serious/important information (for mathematicians, historians, comp scientists etc), this bit resonated the most with me: Göttingen was at the time a top place for mathematics. In fact, it was a sufficient “math town” that around that time postcards of local mathematicians were for sale there. Utterly charming. |
