Very cool - I'd never heard the term paregoric and I assumed it was perhaps the class of drugs used for slowing diarrhea (like say, Loperamide). I'd never have thought literal tincture of opium would have that use. (Also, now that I've looked it up Loperamide is also an opioid agonist and likely capitalizes on some of the same effects). |
