I don't see how this is tied only to the new M1 CPU.

All systems and OSes suffer the same faith eventually. That's why you don't use your machine from early 2000s with modern apps.

For me it seems that his statement shows some envy.

Well, I strongly disagree... and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Imagine being at the restaurant ordering a pizza. There are only 2 pizzas in the menu: one with 1 topping, the other with 3 toppings. Each topping would take an extra minute in pizza's prep time. Which one would you pick? The one that is being delivered faster? Or the tastier one? I think for most of us the answer is obvious.
