The problem is that there is no objective measure of "better". The consultant did think he was leaving the code better than he found it. I've worked on codebases where the whole team agrees a certain part of the codebase needs to be refactored, but we all also agree it is way too dangerous. Which is better? Working but hard to maintain spaghetti code, or clean, new, and broken code? |
