It probably is within their individual rights to send their data to the police, but the implications of a system like this are unsettling.

Is the physical world going post-privacy? There's a future where every public space is live-streamed, 24/7 on the internet.

Is it better or worse to have an open panopticon like this (live streamed post privacy), or a closed one where the government & friends get access but normal people do not? At least this this accessible to all.
This project seems to let everyone contribute their camera to the closed system, but I don't see how you can call it "accessible to all."
I certainly hope so. Really the only problem I see with this is how the video is shared with the police only (and I trust the police, for now)...

What I'd really like to see is ubiquitous cameras everywhere, live streaming online with free (or nominal fee) access for everyone.
