Nice essay. I think many of us grow up with idealistic notions of what our impact will be. We all grow up wanting to be the hero: improve the world by causing change on a massive scale. But true quality doesn’t scale. Lately, I’m finding that real change happens in small increments, small acts of kindness and compassion here and there in daily life. I think many folks see the power and sustainability in this approach. Ambition doesn’t ever truly go away, but what we are ambitious for may change with age and experience. We are all parts of a whole. |
