There are many different models/configurations of ThinkPads so there is no real answer to your question unfortunately.

Purely anecdotal, but I've been using a T450s for over five years and I don't see myself really upgrading anytime soon. If I do upgrade, chances are I'd get another ThinkPad. I like how little they can cost and how they don't conflict with Linux.

I had been using a T410 since 2010. I have just upgraded(?) to a P53 because of its greater screen resolution and lighter weight per size due to its SSD.

I feel that the older T410 had a better keyboard overall than the P53. (And was 'nicer to use'.) I'm still not quite convinced it was an upgrade.
