Paypal have recently added an extra 3% charge for AU Paypal accounts to withdraw USD into US accounts.

I have spoken to a few small businesses that are going down the path of opening up a US based subsidiary to avoid these charges.

Yikes. I have briefly thought about doing the same thing before, but I suspect the added company overhead would wipe out most or all of the advantage.

Do you have any indication from these small businesses what the setup and compliance costs are like?
