i think the gatekeeping involved is more personality type. learning vim/emacs is kind of like learning to play minecraft. you either have to really want to, or on the receiving end of peer pressure. as an emacs user who’s never gotten into vim, I definitely am going to try this ‘vim tutor’ someday when I have some time to kill.
