DMVs sell just about everything, using fairly standardized contract models that the association of DMVs coordinates, In some states, it’s illegal for DMV to give other agencies, say a tax department, most information, so the other entity buys the data from a broker. Similar to the contracts with companies like LexisNexis and Thompson where the government needs to pay for a subscription to access its own laws. |
