Why is everyone surprised by this? Fudging numbers, stealing credit, and blatantly lying is what Apple has always done. Of course they put a beautiful marketing layer on top of it all so its slightly less obvious.
I do as well. Which is why I was sad to see mostly comments supporting the new chip without backing it up with more meaningful benchmarks, or being surprised that Apple would put out benchmarks that are half truths in order to sell a product. Neither of these are "news".
