Is it just me or is anybody else also reminded of "The Origins of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral mind" while reading this ? I have a hunch that ancient peoples could not conceive of a state of clinical depression. That comes along with the modern emphasis on "me" and "my goals" and "my desires" As Soren Kierkegaard put it "Anxiety is the price of freedom" |
