As a Brit, I agree. It makes the news show feel less like serious reporting, and more like a televised tabloid, bereft of sincerity. Journalism isn't meant to be an exercise in theatre. edit Thinking about it, the term news show relates back to my point about theatre. Perhaps I should try to use news programme instead. From a quick search, the BBC use both terms. |
