Justification from /r/Drones http://www.amerika.org/politics/why-i-left-reddit/

That is quite the rant - starts off more or less reasonable and then:

Reddit feared that, so they removed me, but now with the disappearance of The_Donald (also censored and hounded into oblivion) Reddit has driven away normal people and is focusing exclusively on the fedora eckshuallies who work as Starbucks baristas, Whole Foods checkers, call center workers, and other jobs where obedience to social norms is really important and finding actual answers in the real-world is irrelevant.

This is not 100k people decamping to another site, this is one guy taking his ball and going home after a disagreement with the family that owns the playfield. Maybe a bunch of people will follow - but I predict someone will just start /r/NewDrones and forget about him.

I dislike reddit for many of the same reasons as this guy - in many ways it is a victim of its own success and any site with that many users has to wield a big moderation stick and lose some people along the way. But complaining about it is futile and misguided. If you want access to Reddits pool of users then play by their rules. If not, go elsewhere.

From one moderator of r/drones, seems like. Doesn't seem like a consensus decision.
To save others from having to read it, he left because reddit is 'censoring conservatives' or something. I couldn't find anything about censorship of drone technology in particular. He's just pissed off at reddit in general.
