For this specific case, the Wikimedia Foundation has explicitly stated that "It is the Free Software release of GitLab that runs optional non-free software such as Google Recaptcha to block abuse, which we do not plan to use." So, not incredible helpful at the moment. Also, is manual approval for new signups a good idea for a large FOSS project? It seems like a pretty big barrier to legitimate discussion. |
