For that tax 'advantage' you'd have to buy them when they were supremely expensive before collapse, so that you had the high acquisition cost of a now-worthless asset to write off. But you'd have paid X for a reduction of X in tax liability, which, assuming you pay a sub-100% marginal tax rate, is a strictly dumb idea. |
