That is not how accounting works. You can only write off the book value (ie what you paid).

And GAAP would have to let you capitalize them. Not sure if they do.

But if they weren't allowed to capitalize them, the addresses would have already been written off at time of purchase, so the ipv6 switch wouldn't hurt them anyway
