Hey HN, Originally, I started building Kuri to make it the most personalized cooking app. One that could "predict" what I should be cooking next.

Throughout the years (I had to learn software development from scratch, bear with me), I discovered the impact of agriculture and our eating habits on the environment.

It became clearer that Kuri could "feed two birds with one scone": help you figure out what to cook, while taking climate into the equation. Kuri is the only cooking app that calculates the localized carbon footprint of each recipe, so the app can "nudge" the user towards a relevant, yet low-carbon recipe.

Why "localized"? With Kuri, you will see what's in season in your region. If you're using it in California, what's in season will be very different from what's in season in London or NYC for instance. So, we localized ingredients seasonality! Seemed rather logical to us but it seems it hasn't really been done before.

I'm working on bringing meal planning into the app. Any help, feedback, would be much appreciated.

Some interesting results we've had so far: - 65% of our users still eat meat - yet 82% of the recipes meat-eaters cook were meatless recipes - a whopping 96% of the recipes cooked by our users were in-season or season agnostic (in their region, ofc). - average carbon footprint of the recipes cooked by our users (925 grams of CO2e per portion) was 62% lower than the American average.

Looking forward to reading your thoughts, suggestions and more. Baptiste (bptstmlgt)
