Outdoor spaces are generally not good for tech work. You can’t see your screen because of glare, run out of power because there isn’t an outlet to power your laptop, am uncomfortable because of the seating position, have a gust of wind blow away your notes, don’t have enough screen real estate, can be too hot or too cold, etc... Interestingly, of campuses I have been to, the Stanford campus seems to have been the best designed for this. Plenty of verandas and balconies protected from light and wind, outlets everywhere, good WiFi. The original campus buildings were designed to protect people from the sun. Glad they carried it over to the new buildings. Facebook with their courtyard is also good. |
