The software patent directive of 2005 was rejected at the request for multinationals (IBM, Philips, Microsoft, etc...) who pushed for a central patent instead. Some other countries have ratified, some like Spain, Poland, Czech republic have stayed away for different reasons, like languages and higher costs of litigation for small companies. |
