Width is hugely valuable. It allows you to quickly pick things up; quickly draw connections; quickly get up to speed. What you need now is a chance to apply this. Get a thing you know roughly about and make it your job. You will pick on it more quickly than most people would think. Use that time to do it properly. The things you will learn from this will help knowing how to do it properly in all the other wide things. Key here is to get a mentor that will help guide you, show you how to do it properly, and show you how to judge what is and isn't proper. That experience usually widely translates. |
