The cost you pay for this is verbose and unergonomic interop when your problem domain is executing a bunch of commands. For all its warts shells shine at being extremely expressive. It’s usually not worth the effort to shove everything into a real programming language but write a few self-contained commands designed to be called from a shell and then use the shell as the glue. |
