There were already tapes that indicated racism on the part of Nixon (see https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/07/ronald-rea...). These latest tapes seemed to me worthy of further discussion because it isn’t merely a case of personal attitudes and beliefs, as terrible as those can be. These recordings indicate that the racism of Nixon and Kissinger actually played a tangible role in shaping recent U.S. foreign policy and led to tragic loss of life.
