This seems like an extreme stretch and the motive doesn't check out. Oride was shut down two weeks ago for reasons unrelated to competition.

This is a fair point, but we have seen "faux" shutdowns before of Chinese companies abroad. A good example of this would be Zoom, which was shutdown but then suddenly not in 2019. I have personally spoken to the CEO, Eric Yuan, about this incident, so I consider myself at least here decently informed (regarding Zoom): https://technode.com/2019/09/09/china-blocks-us-video-confer...
