I sort of understand how the FTDI thing happened. They were charging an arm and a leg for an ancient IC, so China cloning it was really a no brainer. Thankfully, 1-2 companies came up with their own competing solutions which you now can buy for cents. If you are still using FTDI chips (fake or original) you might want to update your designs. |
