For me, one of the most valuable things about 'Becoming a Technical Leader' are the exercises/questions at the end of each chapter. For example, from the end of Chapter 1, 'What is Leadership, Anyway?': "Make a list of situations in which your presence seems to increase the productivity of others. Alongside this list, identify situations where your presence seems to decrease productivity. [...] What do these lists tell you about yourself and the environments that empower you?" Weinberg has a way of getting you to reflect that I find profoundly valuable, if I am willing to do the work. |
