You're not wrong but it is a little more complicated. We have lots of "news" organizations that also amplify the same nonsense and have the ability to undermine majorities. FOX News and CNN seem endlessly able to paint all issues as facts with polar opposite conclusions. I think the thing that has happened with social media is that we've moved even more to a sound bite and headline world. This is no critical thought or consideration. The headline said X so it is true. The "news" is willing to do anything for eyeballs. All information has become click bait to sell ads. |
