Fun idea: If the universe is a simulation, then maybe dark energy is just a rounding error bug.

According to Wikipedia:

   ..dark energy contributes 68% of the total energy..
so if anyone complains about the shoddy quality of x87 floats, point them to the universe and tell them it could be worse.
