I use nylon insert nuts, threadlocker (of the proper type), and sometimes inner or outer bite toothed lock washers because spring lock washers have always been useless in my experience. If you really need locking-power, use a castellated nut and cotter pin, or lock wiring (safety wire).

The important bit is either preventing the holding fastener from turning either directly to prevent rotation or stretching the bolt such that friction under all vibration modes prevents jumping and loosening of the holding fastener.
