That's a MAD scenario though. I mean, trade wars can escalate, but deliberately crippling global industries is a shade too far (probably). In fact the Huawei chip regulation was attractive precisely because it doesn't impact much in the way of actual products right now. The overwhelming bulk of Huawei's revenue is derived from simple manufactured products using semiconductors from non-PRC sources. Their domestic chip design was a fledgling industry still. |
